MISSION/ SERVICE TRIP TO OAK HILL, WV—Saturday, June 16-Saturday, June 23, 2012, we will be completing home improvement projects for local residents. Projects may include roofing, building ramps, repairing skirting on mobile homes, etc. (painting rarely). An on-site project supervisor will help with supplies, work, and provide instruction as needed. Visit the mission trip's webpage for more information.
BD’s Mongolian barbeque—Thursday, June 28th join us for lunch in Bethesda where we’ll all make our own stir-fry. Bring $10 (scholarships available) and be prepared for amazing food and great fun. ADULT DRIVERS/ MENTORS NEEDED. RSVP by Sunday, June 24th so that we have plenty of time to get a reservation. We’ll strive for a reservation at 12:30pm, so tentatively we’ll meet at the church at noon.
NATIONALS GAME—The entire PPC family is invited to join us to watch the Nationals take on the Rockies on Saturday, July 7th (first pitch @ 4:05pm). Tickets are $22/ person (scholarships available). To reserve your ticket(s), place your payment (checks payable to “Potomac Presbyterian Church”) in Kendra’s box. Deadline to reserve tickets is June 10th. However, please reserve tickets as soon as possible so that we can request a bigger block of tickets if necessary. Kendra is available to ride Metro to and from the game with youth if needed.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL—Monday, July 9-Friday, July 13, youth are invited to volunteer. Each youth will be assigned to assist with a group or activity station throughout the week to insure a fun and safe week for all the children attending. SIGN UP to volunteer online.

Bay Get-Away—Thursday, July 19th-Friday, July 20th we’ll be basking in the sun and playing in the surf. On Thursday, we’ll gather at 10am at the church before heading to the Drumheller’s home in St. Michael’s on the Chesapeake Bay. We’ll get there in time for lunch and have the afternoon to play on the Bay before enjoying dinner and evening fellowship. On Friday, we’ll enjoy morning devotionals before spending most of the day swimming, boating, and relaxing. We’ll stop at a classic Eastern Shore diner for dinner on the way home and return to Potomac at ~8pm. ADULT DRIVERS/ MENTORS NEEDED. To claim your spot, bring $25 (to cover food and gas) to Kendra. Scholarships are available. Must RSVP with payment by Wednesday, July 11th. Participants must have a current Emergency Care and Permission Form on file.
LOCAL MISSION WEEK—Monday, July 23-Friday, July 27, 2012. Recognizing that there are people in need in our own community, we will spend a week volunteering at various social service agencies in the DC metro area. We volunteer during the morning and then spend our afternoons enjoying various recreational activities together. Previous activities during Local Mission Week have included packing school supplies and sorting clothing at Interfaith Clothing Center, sorting food at Manna Food Inc., removing invasive plants at Seneca Creek State Park, making cards and healthy side dishes for Miriam's Kitchen, delivering meals for Food and Friends, and spending time with residents of Arden Courts Alzheimer's Assisted Living of Potomac. Members of PPC should talk to Kendra ASAP to register and then turn in Emergency Care and Permission Form along with payment. Registration is now closed to non-members of PPC.
SWIMMING AFTERNOON—Tuesday, July 24th all youth are invited to join those already participating in Local Mission Week for an afternoon of swimming (location TBD). We’ll be splashing in the pool from ~1:30-3:30pm. RSVP by Sunday, July 22nd if you want to join us.
HERSHEYPARK—Join us Monday, July 30th for a day-long trip to Hersheypark. We’ll meet at the church at 7:30am to drive up to Hershey, PA (eat breakfast before you come or bring a snack for the car). We’ll spend the day at the park. Traffic permitting we’ll arrive around 10am when the park opens and then depart by 7pm so we’re back at the church at ~9:30pm. ADULT DRIVERS/ MENTORS NEEDED. Cost per person is $45. Participants are responsible for lunch and dinner at the park. Submit payment by Sunday, July 15th to reserve your ticket. Participants must have a current Emergency Care and Permission Form on file.
FIVE GUYS’ FRIDAYS—If you are in town and want to get out of the house, join Kendra at Five Guys in Potomac Village for lunch on Friday, August 10th and/or Friday, August, 17th. She’ll be there at noon. Bring $5 toward the cost of lunch.
